SLIPKNOT Turns It Up To '9' On New Live Album
November 1, 2005SLIPKNOT releases its first full-length concert album today (Tuesday, November 1),called "9.0 Live". The two-disc set comes just as the band is ending more than 18 months of touring in support of its 2004 studio CD, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)". The band played all over the world during that time, and drummer Joey Jordison told Launch that SLIPKNOT's debut in South Korea was especially memorable. "They were screaming so loud prior to us going on, and, you know, it's like an hour and a half before we go on, and it's just as loud then with the lights up, and we're sittin' back there and it's like, 'This is just insane,'" he said. "And when those lights went out, it was just so much mayhem, that, you know, they're charging the stage, there's people falling from balconies, there's police trying to hold these kids back. There's kids on the stage. It was just pretty intense."
"9.0 Live" was recorded at shows in Singapore, Japan, and Las Vegas.
SLIPKNOT had to cancel three New York shows and reschedule two Philadelphia gigs on its current tour following the death of percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan's father last week. The trek resumes on November 4 in Montreal and is slated to end on November 15 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This tour is SLIPKNOT's final round of shows in support of "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", which has sold 1.2 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
